Information Regarding Changes to the Ohio Careeer Information System (OCIS)

As mentioned in previous messages, effective July 1, the Ohio Career Information System (OCIS) will be transitioning to OhioMeansJobs K-12. The initial phase of this transition requires current OCIS users to print or save their Portfolios outside of OCIS. In addition, as of today, students can now register with OhioMeansJobs K-12 and create their Backpacks.

One feature of the Backpack allows a student to upload documents. Therefore, any files a student has saved from an OCIS Portfolio can now be uploaded to his or her OhioMeansJobs K-12 Backpack. This action will not be done automatically. A student will first need to print or save his or her OCIS Portfolio outside of the system. Then, visit to create an OhioMeansJobs K-12 Backpack. There are several resources available to support you and your students with this transition:

o   Click here to log in to your SAFE account and register for a session via STARS.

o   Enter “OhioMeansJobs” in the event name search box (no spaces).

o   Choose 9 a.m. or 3 p.m. on these dates: 4/18, 4/21, 4/23, 4/29, 5/8, 5/12, 5/13 or 5/15.

The documents above are accessible on the department’s website here or by visiting and searching for Career Connections. I encourage you to share this email with your colleagues and look forward to answering any questions you have during an online information session. You also may contact with any questions or concerns.
